Dennis’ early years in business were in marketing with Johnson & Johnson, where he grew many of their familiar brands to record sales and market share. His work there was featured in publications including The New York Times and BrandWeek. As Vice President of Marketing at PlanetRx.com, he led the company as it grew to one hundred million dollars in revenues in its first year after its one billion dollar public offering. At Robert Mondavi Inc., he rose to Executive Vice President of Sales & Marketing and ultimately Chief Operating Officer for the then publicly-traded, global wine company. After the merger of Robert Mondavi with Constellation Brands, he went on to become President of AgraQuest, Inc., a biotech developing transformative technologies for the commercialization of safe and effective pesticides. Throughout his career, and in each of these roles, Dennis consistently demonstrated an ability to build high performance teams that delivered positive business results and organizational improvement. He has hired executives at all levels, both as a hiring manager and as an executive recruiter.
Dennis received his B.A. from Georgetown University, M.B.A. from The University of Michigan, and also studied at the University of Oxford in England. An avid sports fan, and sometime participant, he played for Georgetown’s junior varsity basketball team. Today he is happy to ride his road bike around western Marin and the greater Bay Area, and recently completed his fourth century ride. He has served on the Board of Directors of the YMCA of San Francisco, the Board of Directors of the Wine Market Council, and the Board of Governors of Georgetown University.

What our clients say
Dennis is a very high integrity business leader and a great all-around person. He is one of the best search partners I have worked with due to his deep business acumen, EQ, and knowledge of what is takes to win. He is one of the most well connected people I have ever met, and has an uncanny ability to really cut to what is important in a role and why and to translate to searches that are expedient, painless, and fruitful. He led a search for a CFO for me that was a bullseye and worked out extremely well. I will work with Dennis many more times for these reasons. Also, and importantly - he is trustworthy. He's turned down search assignments I have asked him to consider if they were outside of his wheelhouse which is just as important to me as taking an assignment!Rob Leibowitz, CEO of Kite Hill
We hired Joyce Group to help build out our Marketing and Sales leadership teams, and they hit it out of the park each time. The thing about Dennis is he has an uncanny ability to assess “real” talent. And what sets him apart from every other recruiter we’ve worked with is his operating experience and attention to detail. He knows what I’m going through as the leader of a high growth company, and so his insights are unparalleled. The highest recommendation for Dennis and his team.Peter Byck, CEO of Winery Exchange
The Joyce Group are true partners in every sense and aspect of the search process. Given Dennis' executive background, his team offers strategic guidance and a comprehensive evaluation of candidates that is uniquely valuable in search and selection . Dennis and his team invested the time to understand our company culture and its importance to candidate fit, which goes above and beyond an assessment of candidate capability and qualifications. The Joyce Group always delivers exceptional results in a collaborative and thoughtful approach to their work.Steve Myers, Managing Director at Distinguished Vineyards & Wine Partners
Dennis is a strong partner in the search process. For my business, talent is key but cultural fit is mandatory. Dennis developed his keen understanding of these areas through his own practical executive experiences. His ability to apply his practical experience with his probing candidate assessment and disciplined search process are a great recipe for success. Strong recommendation.George Vukasin Jr., President, Peerless Coffee
